Second-year WR Lavelle Hawkins, inactive for the first six games of the season, has gotten more playing time after the Week Seven bye, and he played a major role in Tennesee’s stirring comeback win over Arizona on Nov. 29, catching all four passes thrown his way, including a 13-yard reception on fourth down that kept the game-winning drive alive. The way we hear it, Hawkins will continue to have, at best, a complementary role in the offense, and his playing time could wane once Justin Gage (back) returns to full strength. (Rookie Kenny Britt, who has thrived filling in for Gage, figures to be an important part of the offense even when Gage returns.) Nevertheless, Hawkins’ contributions are a positive sign after he did not have much of an impact as a rookie and could not get onto the active roster in the first two months of the season
