Much of the talk in Buffalo since the firing of Dick Jauron has surrounded the Bills' search for a new head coach, fueled by news that the team recently sat down with former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan for a reported seven-hour meeting. But according to daily team observers, the Bills' top priority should be finding a new general manager who can then hire his own coach. While head of football operations Russ Brandon has had success with the organization from a marketing standpoint, his track record on personnel decisions has been less than sparkling. Owner Ralph Wilson stated that major changes were coming to the franchise, and bringing in an experienced football executive to make personnel calls is likely one of those moves. While we're told that Buffalo hasn't publicly spoken to any GM candidates yet, the process of finding one almost certainly has begun. In an ironic twist, it appears that Brandon, as COO, will be the one searching for his own replacement.
