The Dolphins certainly could use another playmaker at wide receiver, but they are not going to be getting help from rookie WR Patrick Turner anytime soon, the way we hear it. Turner, a third-round pick, is not close to being ready to contribute, according to team observers, and sources are skeptical about his chances of getting playing time late in the season, even if the Dolphins are out of the playoff picture in the final few weeks. We hear Turner is struggling to get separation from defenders and also has trouble getting off the line of scrimmage against press coverage in practice. He's not a contributor on special teams, which helps to explain why he has been active in only two games. Head coach Tony Sparano doesn't have a place for him in the receiving rotation and while Turner was selected 21 picks ahead of fellow rookie Brian Hartline, Hartline is clearly ahead of him in the pecking order.
