In what was widely considered a foregone conclusion after the signing of free-agent LB Cato June Tuesday, the Bears announced Wednesday that they had placed LB Pisa Tinoisamoa on injured reserve. Tinoisamoa started two games for the Bears at strong-side linebacker, registering five tackles and one forced fumble before suffering a knee injury in Week Six that had kept him on the sideline since then. The move opens up a roster spot for June, a six-year veteran who was cut by the Texans after suffering a fractured arm in the preseason.
The Bears also signed LB Kevin Malast to the practice squad. Malast was an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers who spent the 2009 preseason with the Bears, recording a team-high 19 tackles.
