Now in his fourth season, the Cardinals still don't really know whether former first-round draft pick Matt Leinart is truly worthy of being the quarterback of the future. With that in mind, there is a growing feeling among some close to the team that it might not be a bad time — with the team enjoying a comfortable three-game lead in the NFC West, and Kurt Warner having suffered a concussion in the Week 11 win over the Rams — to give Leinart a start. Leinart has not looked very good when called upon this season. Replacing Warner in the second half against the Rams, he looked uneasy and rather tentative, and daily team observers tell us he continues to throw too many high passes due to faulty footwork. "Right now is a perfect time to give him a starting shot," one team insider said. "The team is saying a lack of reps is holding him back. So give him a full week of practice, and let's see what he can do. It seems like he should be a lot further along than he is."

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released very soon. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
