League sources have said that OLT Chris Samuels — who was placed on injured reserve following a neck injury suffered against the Panthers, which was complicated by stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal column) — will never play in the NFL again. However, Samuels said he has yet to make any decision and is "definitely optimistic" he can continue his career. Although he expressed blessing for the time he has played in the league and said he would have no regrets if he was forced to retire, Samuels said he feels better than he did after the injury and will be re-evaluated in the next 2-3 months. But the Redskins likely will approach the situation as if they have to replace Samuels. Stephon Heyer has shown he is not a left tackle, and Levi Jones, who also has had a number of injuries in his career, needs to show more down the stretch before he can make a firm claim to be the team's left tackle next season and beyond.

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released later this month. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
