Coming off a huge 129-yard, one-TD effort against the Niners, it would hardly be a shock if Packers RB Ryan Grant has another huge day against a Lions defense ranked 31st in total yards allowed and 32nd in points allowed. For that matter, Packers RB Brandon Jackson (81 total yards last week) wouldn't be a bad fantasy starter this week in deep leagues.
Rams RB Steven Jackson has finally begun adding TDs to his fantasy arsenal. On pace for 1,650 yards rushing, Jackson registered his fourth-straight 100-yard rushing performance last Sunday and third straight game with a TD. It's a good bet his streaks in both categories will continue when matched up this weekend with a Seattle run defense that allowed Vikings RBs Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor to combine for 155 yards rushing last Sunday.
Colts TD machine Joseph Addai, who faces the Texans this weekend, just keeps on scoring. Addai, who had 74 yards rushing and a TD last week, has scored at least one TD in all but two games this season. In his first game this season against Houston, he had two scores, one rushing and one receiving.
Niners RB Frank Gore has scored a TD in each of his last four games, including a 10-yard TD catch last week. Gore, who also had a 42-yard dash up the middle on his first carry, could cause problems for the Jaguars this Sunday.
Look for Bears RB Kahlil Bell, who galloped for 72 yards on his first NFL handoff against the Eagles last Sunday night, to get a decent amount of playing time moving forward behind Matt Forté, who has not been nearly as effective as he was as a rookie last season.
Seahawks RB Julius Jones (lung contusion) is expected to practice this week and start over Justin Forsett, who had a TD for Seattle's only score last Sunday, in addition to eight catches for 80 yards. Both of them could put up some decent fantasy numbers against a Rams defense that relinquished 183 yards rushing to the Cardinals last week.
Both Chris "Beanie" Wells and Tim Hightower continue to generate plenty of fantasy firepower for the Cardinals. Hightower had a career-high 110 yards rushing on 14 carries last week against the Rams, including a 50-yard run in the first quarter. In the same game, Wells had 74 yards rushing to go with his fourth TD in the last five games. Wells also had his fourth consecutive game averaging over five yards per carry.
Falcons RB Michael Turner is unlikely to play this week against the Bucs, so Jason Snelling will be a quality option once again in most leagues. Atlanta hosts the Buccaneers, who are ranked dead last vs. the run and yield 168.9 yards per game on the ground.
As usual, Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart is worth considering in leagues of 12 teams or more. Panthers offensive coordinator Jeff Davidson may try to make up for his mistake of abandoning the run in the second half of Carolina's loss to the Dolphins by relying heavily on DeAngelo Williams and Stewart vs. the Jets, who are ranked 16th vs. the run.
Saints RB Pierre Thomas has only one TD in the past three weeks, which has frustrated some owners hoping for more of a scoring punch from the Saints' top rusher. He may have a hard time finding the endzone again against the Patriots, who have allowed just three rushing TDs, but Thomas' big-play potential makes him worth considering for a start in most leagues.
Saints RB Reggie Bush is expected to return after sitting out New Orleans' win over the Buccaneers in Week 11. Bush's numbers have been very up-and-down this season, and it's hard to know what to expect from him on a weekly basis. If you can deal with the frustration of inconsistency, play Bush, but don't say we didn't warn you if he comes up with a clunker vs. the Patriots.
Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno is a decent option in leagues of 12 teams or more this week. He'll go up against the Giants, who are ranked a respectable 11th vs. the run, but they also gave up 76 rushing yards and two TDs to Michael Turner's backup, Jason Snelling, last week. Moreno could see an increased workload with QB Kyle Orton nursing an ankle injury.
Dolphins RB Ricky Williams came through with a great performance in Week 11, rushing for 119 yards and scoring three TDs. He's a good starting option again this week, as Miami faces a Bills team that is allowing 4.9 yards per carry and ranks 31st vs. the run.
Despite a fractured thumb, Cowboys RB Marion Barber made it through a full practice Tuesday and almost certainly will start Thursday against the Raiders. Barber looked good against the Redskins last week.
Giants RBs Brandon Jacobs (leg) and Ahmad Bradshaw (both ankles) are both dinged up, but Jacobs appears good to go for Thursday's contest at Denver. Bradshaw, though, is very unlikely to play after missing practice this week, so expect Danny Ware to take on more of a workload. The Broncos' run defense has been a sieve lately, so expect some strong numbers.
Redskins RB Clinton Portis is still bothered by blurry vision and has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Eagles. With Ladell Betts (ACL/MCL) out for the season, Rock Cartwright gets the ball after a 140-scrimmage-yard performance last week. He appears to be a good emergency pickup, though the Eagles are usually stingy vs. the run.
Bengals RB Cedric Benson (hip flexor) could be back in the lineup this week vs. Cleveland, head coach Marvin Lewis indicated on Wednesday. The Browns did a respectable job vs. Benson in the first meeting between the clubs, holding him to just 86 total yards on 19 touches, but that's no reason to sit Benson this week if he's healthy enough to play. The starting job remains his, as do the bulk of the carries.
Texans RB Chris Brown got the bulk of the carries Week 11 vs. Tennessee, rushing for 36 yards on 11 attempts and also catching 3-17-0. Steve Slaton was primarily used in the passing game, snagging 5-42-1 but carrying only five times for 21 yards. Head coach Gary Kubiak indicated Brown's pass protection ability, as well the Texans' lack of mistakes when he was in the game, led to an increase in playing time. In something of a surprise, Ryan Moats didn't play against the Titans, though he was active. And in another twist, rookie Arian Foster was on the active roster. Going forward, we still believe Slaton has the most fantasy value of the Texans' backs, as he's the most dynamic player of the group.
Ravens RB Willis McGahee has quietly received more work of late, carrying 13 times in Week 10 at Cleveland and getting seven touches Week 11 vs. Indianapolis (six carries, one reception). He's not a threat to zap Ray Rice's fantasy value, but he could again have some value in bigger leagues if the Ravens keep working him back into the offense.
Browns RB Chris Jennings continues to become a bigger and bigger part of the offense. He carried 10 times for 36 yards and caught five passes for 38 yards last week at Detroit. Also, note that he dropped a sure TD pass from Brady Quinn. Jamal Lewis (24-75-0 rushing and 1-13-0 receiving vs. Detroit) will still get most of the work, but Jennings is getting enough touches to be a potentially interesting pickup.
Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew only managed 2.6 yards per carry last week against a Bills defense that hasn't stopped anyone on the ground this season. Nonetheless, he still had a respectable fantasy day with 66 yards and a TD. Jones-Drew has scored in 8-of-10 games this season and should absolutely be in your lineup per usual this week, despite facing a tough San Francisco run "D."
Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson is beginning to regain some of the value he had lost earlier this season, becoming a larger part of the offense over the past two weeks. He has 44 carries for 169 yards and three TDs over this span, not showing great efficiency but finishing with respectable stats. He should keep rolling Sunday against the Chiefs, who are giving up 138.6 yards per contest on the ground.
The Bills' backfield has put forth very little production lately, especially Marshawn Lynch, who hasn't rushed for more than 69 yards in a game all season and has just one TD. Lynch is day-to-day with a shoulder injury and could be questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Dolphins. If he's inactive, Fred Jackson would make for a decent fantasy play as Buffalo's featured back. If Lynch plays, though, neither back would be worth starting, as they'd split carries evenly.
