As was first reported on Pro Football Weekly's Web site, impeccable sources have revealed to PFW that a representative of the McCaskey family reached out approximately 10 days to two weeks ago to a potential intermediary of a former NFL head coach to gauge what might be involved financially — and in other areas — should the Bears have interest in making a coaching change and pursuing that individual. The Bears have adamantly denied the report, but our sources continue to say that the contact did indeed take place. Further clarifying the situation, our understanding is that the coach the Bears inquired about was former Steelers head coach and current CBS commentator Bill Cowher. PFW is not aware of any contact the Bears might have made with any of the other former high-profile head coaches currently on the open market besides Cowher.

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released later this month. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
