Less than one week after signing 32-year-old CB Chris McAlister, the Saints went back to free-agent market for more veteran help at corner and re-signed 33-year-old Mike McKenzie on Monday, according to various reports.
McKenzie played for the Saints from 2005-08 and made 52 starts in that span. He fractured his kneecap in Week 10 last year and missed the rest of the season. He's been out of the league, but apparently is in good shape. New Orleans is going to need him to learn a new defensive scheme, since it changed defensive coordinator since he departed in the offseason.
Starting CB Tracy Porter is expected to be out for a few more weeks to recover from an MCL sprain and CBs Randall Gay and Leigh Torrence both sustained injuries that sidelined them in the team's win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. The Saints' top corner, Jabari Greer, has missed the last two games with a groin injury, but he's expected to return in Week 12.
