The Redskins suffered two more crucial injuries on Sunday.
RB Ladell Betts, who suffered ACL and MCL tears in his left knee, is done for the season. So is replacement ORG Chad Rinehart, who suffered a broken fibula. In addition, H-back Eddie Williams also is out with a broken fibula. All three were placed on injured reserve Monday.
Betts was filling in for Clinton Portis, who is still not back from a concussion he suffered two weeks ago. Rinehart was filling in for Randy Thomas, who also is on I.R. Williams, who was promoted to the active roster but hadn't played, suffered his broken leg during practice last week.
It's not clear who will replace them. Rock Cartwright did a tremendous job in the 7-6 loss to the Cowboys with 140 yards from scrimmage. The Redskins used Edwin Williams to replace Rinehart, but they could go back to Will Montgomery, who started at right guard prior to Rinehart taking over, or Paul Fanaika, who was signed Monday from Philadelphia’s practice squad.
Portis will miss this weekend's game and could be out longer. The team announced Monday that it re-signed RB Marcus Mason, who had been cut after spending the first six games of the season on the Washington roster.
More bad news: TE Chris Cooley isn't responding the way the team had hoped and also could be headed for I.R.
It's not clear if DT Albert Haynesworth can return for the game against the Eagles on Sunday. CB DeAngelo Hall, who suffered an ankle injury against the Cowboys, also might miss the game.
