Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said Monday that rookie QB Matthew Stafford was "extremely sore" after sustaining a separated left shoulder on the next-to-last play of Detroit's dramatic 38-37 comeback victory over the Browns Sunday, and that he wouldn't play against Green Bay on Thanksgiving Day unless the pain subsides.
Stafford was injured while throwing a Hail Mary pass into the endzone as time expired. The Browns were called for pass interference, and after a timeout, Stafford came back to throw a game-winning TD pass to fellow rookie Brandon Pettigrew with no time on the clock. He finished with 422 passing yards and tied an all-time NFL rookie record with five TD passes.
Schwartz was also unsure about WR Calvin Johnson, who injured a knee on the same play in which Stafford was injured.
