It serves as a reminder, with the Lions playing the Browns this weekend, that Detroit still hasn't found anything close to a replacement for NT Shaun Rogers since trading him to Cleveland prior to the 2008 season. The Lions, who have a 1-24 record since then, have used a number of combinations inside with little success, even with a few brief glimpses of promise the past few weeks. The primary players inside have been Andre Fluellen (the final Lions player left to show for the Rogers trade), Grady Jackson, Sammie Lee Hill and Landon Cohen, with recent additions Joe Cohen and Turk McBride chipping in. Despite taking the most snaps of any tackle on the team, Fluellen hasn't been able to be a penetrator against the pass or a good run stopper. Hill has some upside, but it's clear that this position will undergo some serious revision in the offseason. The team needs both a stout nose tackle and a gap-splitting three-technique inside to make improvements.

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released later this month. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
