It appears the Colts' starting ORG job is Kyle DeVan's to lose. DeVan, signed as a free agent in April while playing in arenafootball2, took over the starting job in Week Nine from Mike Pollak, a second-round pick in the 2008 draft who has had his share of ups and downs. "They had been rotating, but Pollak really struggled against the Niners (in Week Eight)," said a daily team observer. "They still like Pollak, but he just hasn't been consistent enough." Pollak has followed in the shaky footsteps of '07 second-round pick Tony Ugoh, who was beaten out for the OLT job this summer by Charlie Johnson, who has been a very pleasant surprise after shifting between left guard and left tackle in '08. DeVan, meanwhile, is in the same mold as C Jeff Saturday and OLG Ryan Lilja. "He's undersized but gritty," the observer said. "It looks like he will have to play himself out of the job."

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released later this month. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
