Vikings head coach Brad Childress has agreed to a contract extension, according to ESPN.
Childress told the media after practice that he hadn't yet signed any papers but that he had to go up to his office to "read the document" that would be his new deal.
The report says that Childress signed a deal between $4 million and $5 million per season through 2013.
Childress, who was hired prior to the 2006 season, has improved the Vikings from 6-10 to 8-8 to 10-6 last season, including the NFC North title.
The Vikings are 8-1, atop the division, after what has turned out to be a nearly flawless offseason. The additions of Brett Favre, Percy Harvin and Phil Loadholt have been tremendous, and Childress' gamble on Favre hasn't backfired.
