There has been a big mystery around Chargers Park lately, and it revolves around CB Antoine Cason. Leading the team with two interceptions, Cason was abruptly removed from the nickel corner role leading up to Week Seven despite solid play in coverage. Nobody was quite sure why Cason, a 2008 first-round pick, was benched in favor of Steve Gregory, a safety by trade. The reason we hear, though, is that the team wanted to get more physical in the secondary, believing the unit was often playing too light against opposing receivers. By inserting Gregory, San Diego not only added somebody who enjoyed hitting wideouts but also a tough player who could help out against the run. Beyond that, the fourth-year Syracuse product is adept at rushing the passer, having tallied two sacks since becoming the club's primary nickel back. While the Chargers have won all three games since making the switch, Cason has barely been on the field in that time, a trend that's likely to continue.

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released later this month. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
