WR Braylon Edwards recently told reporters he would like to be back with the Jets for more than just next season, and even went as far as to say he could see himself retiring as a Jet. But sources say the organization is not jumping to get a long-term done with Edwards, who was acquired in a trade with the Browns in October, and is taking a wait-and-see approach. Edwards will be a restricted free agent this offseason (provided no new CBA is agreed upon and 2010 is an uncapped year), and the Jets are expected to tender him a one-year deal for about $5 million. He hasn’t posted gaudy numbers since being traded, making 13 grabs for 192 yards as the passing game is a work in progress with QB Mark Sanchez learning on the job, but we hear Edwards has done all the right things to ingratiate himself with his new club and his teammates go out of their way to speak highly of him.
