Head coach Tom Coughlin felt like he had a lot of areas to look at after self-scouting his team, especially amid a four-game losing streak. "Unfortunately, we already knew that our red-zone defense and our green-zone offense are not very effective," Coughlin said. It's the place Coughlin has chosen to start. Despite entering inside the opponents' 20-yard line 36 times, the Giants only have come away with 15 touchdowns. One out of six trips, they have not scored at all. Defensively, the Giants amazingly came out of Week Nine as the worst defense inside the 20. They have allowed touchdowns to be scored a league-worst 75.9 percent of the time and a 93.1 scoring percentage, which trails only the Cowboys, Texans and Chargers. Defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan says there is no magic formula to getting better in that area. "That has got to change, because you can play great for 50 snaps a game," he said, "but if they get the ball inside your 10 and you are not putting up enough resistance to keep them out of the endzone, they are going to have seven points instead of three."
