The four-game suspension of Joselio Hanson and season-ending injury to Ellis Hobbs leave the Eagles in a tough position at cornerback. Starters Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown can't afford to get hurt now, not with Dimitri Patterson and Jack Ikegwuonu now backing them up. Patterson has been limited to three games of action because of quad and hand injuries. Ikegwuonu was cut in training camp and added to the practice squad, so he's familiar with the system. Ramzee Robinson also has been signed, but he hasn't played in the league this season. Expect teams to spread the Eagles out with four- and five-WR sets for the next month, especially with the Chargers, Bears and Falcons — all who throw the ball well — coming up. SS Quintin Mikell has good coverage skills, so he might be asked to cover a slot receiver here or there. But finding nickel and dime combinations that work as well as when Hobbs and Hanson were active might prove very difficult.

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released later this month. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
