The Dolphins will have a difficult decision to make concerning arguably the most important position on their defense in the coming months. Jason Ferguson will be a free agent, and the team's backup nose tackle, third-year veteran Paul Soliai, has shown he's not the answer in the middle of the defensive line, according to observers. Finding quality nose tackles in free agency will be a difficult and expensive task, and it's hard to find NFL-ready nose tackles in the draft. Sources say re-signing Ferguson, who turns 35 later this month, for a year appears to be the team's best option for 2010. He has shown no signs of decline despite the wear and tear of 13 pro seasons. While an elbow injury, which sidelined him in Week Nine, is somewhat of a concern, it's not believed to be serious. Ferguson has said that he will retire after the '09 campaign if the Dolphins don't re-sign him.
PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released later this month.
