Two things I dont like about the NFL: one is pass inteference calls. To many times during a game, especially on third and long a team will throw the ball down the field hoping for a pass interference...and get one. Unless it is a drastic penalty...LET THE DEFENSE PLAY. Too many penalties over all are called anyway. I know the league wants high scores and big offensive plays but real football fans want to see teams earn those big plays and dont mind seeing a 7-3 ball game. Second is a rookie salary cap. My beloved 9ers unfortunately drafted a punk (Crabtree) who hasnt even played a down yet and is demanding atleast 15million in signing bonuses? Are you kidding..or Matt Stafford just got paid almost as much as Eli Manning did who has atleast won a Super Bowl. Rookie signings are out of hand and a rookie cap such as the NBA has is greatly needed.

Perhaps I am old school, but I really do not like the trend in the NFL to give the offense all of the advantages in the rules. If I wanted to watch an NBA game I would. Football should be as much about defense as offense. I also think the rules to protect the QB are on the verge of going overboard and moreover not evenly applied. Rothlisburger can get hit in the knees how many times without a call? But Brady gets the call every time. I think that a QB has to be protected some, but you cannot extend it too far. The one QB protection rule I do agree with is the blow to the head rule. However this rule dissappeared in the playoffs. How many times in the playoffs was a QB, especially Kurt Warner, hit in the head without a call? Even in the Super Bowl I saw both Manning and Brees take head shots without a call. If the rule exists call it. Otherwise get rid of it.

I'd love to see an NFL rules change concerning the kicking game. 1) On kickoffs, you MUST return the ball, no downing it in the endzone giving you the ball on the 20. Too much of a gift. Fans want to see action and earned yardage, not gifts. 2) On punts, if the ball goes into or thru the endzone, you will get the ball on the 5, not on the 20. Again, too much of a gift giving the ball on the 20. EARN IT !!!!
