Recognizing the error of his ways, Bears DT Tommie Harris contritely issued a public apology for punching Cardinals starting OG Deuce Lutui in the head and being ejected four plays into the Cardinals’ 41-21 victory over the Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday.
“I was embarrassed, especially for my actions,” said Harris, who has underachieved much of the season. “I apologized to him (Lutui) yesterday, (and) I called Larry (Fitzgerald) and had a chance to apologize to him.
“I just want to apologize to my fans first off, and the little kids out there that saw that action. I shouldn’t behave in that manner. I apologize to my teammates, and I’ll make up for it.”
Harris said he had yet to speak with Bears GM Jerry Angelo, but did have a conversation with head coach Lovie Smith. He also said he did not know whether he expected a suspension from the league.
“I just show up and come to work like it’s a regular work week, and see what (the league) has to say.”
