The Packers’ beleaguered offensive line has suffered another blow with the news late Saturday afternoon that versatile veteran C-OG Jason Spitz has been placed on injured reserve. Spitz had played in five games, including four starts this season, but in recent weeks he had been sidelined by a lower-back injury that apparently has only worsened.
Spitz had won the starting center job in training camp over incumbent Scott Wells, who has been starting at center since Spitz was initially injured in mid-October and will continue to do so. The team promoted second-year WR Biren Ealy from the practice squad to replace Spitz on the roster. In his fourth season, Spitz is in the final year of his contract.
