Although Chiefs head coach Todd Haley came out this week and said that he doesn't have any issues with LB Derrick Johnson, who has played sparingly behind Demorrio Williams all season, we hear that's not exactly the case. We're told that regardless of what they're saying publicly, the new regime has been unhappy with Johnson, considered by many to be the defensive leader entering the season, ever since their arrival. Their main problem with him has been his effort in practice, which hasn't always been 100 percent. With effort being one of Haley's top priorities in evaluating players, this has not sat well with the head coach. Haley also is very hesitant to make changes in the starting lineup, so the fact that Williams has stood out, leading the team with 44 tackles, hasn't helped Johnson's cause. Set to become a free agent after the season, it would be surprising if Johnson returns to Kansas City in 2010.

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the second issue being released later this month. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
