The Seahawks have announced the release of veteran RB Edgerrin James, who signed a one-year deal in August to serve as the backup to Julius Jones.
The 31-year-old James gained only 125 yards on 46 carries over seven games this season for Seattle and didn’t have any starts. He also had three catches for 19 yards and lost a fumble.
The backup role behind Jones will presumably be shared the rest of the season by Justin Forsett and Louis Rankin, who was picked up a few weeks ago after he was released by the Raiders. To fill James' spot on the roster, the Seahawks signed CB Jamar Adams off the practice squad.
In other moves, the Seahawks released CB Travis Fisher and S C.J. Wallace. To fill their roster spots, the team promoted WR Mike Hass and DB Roy Lewis from their practice squad.
