QB Donovan McNabb hasn't been his usually accurate self this season. McNabb has missed parts of three games with a rib injury, which certainly has had an effect, and he has a young receiving corps to work with. He's hitting on only 57.3 percent of his passes, and though he has only one interception this season, it appears McNabb is going through a bit of a funk. The biggest problem has been on third down. Despite the emergence of DeSean Jackson and the maturation of Jeremy Maclin — both are big-play receivers — McNabb has completed only 15-of-30 passes on third down this season, and only eight of those completions have netted first downs. Interestingly, his completion percentage is much higher on 3rd-and-11 or longer to go (6-of-9 passing, 66.7 percent) than it is on 3rd-and-7 or shorter (4-of-10, 40.0). Our sources say that McNabb tends to go through one of these stretches every season in recent years; it happened leading up to his benching in Week 12 against the Ravens last season.
