The Texans’ special teams, long a team strength, have continued to thrive this season. PK Kris Brown’s kickoffs have been very good, and the Texans have been excellent at covering them. The same goes for punts as well, where P Matt Turk, the NFL’s fourth-oldest player at 41, has stymied opposing return games. Third-year RS Jacoby Jones, one of the AFC’s fastest returners, has returned one kickoff for a score and had a punt-return TD taken off the board in Week Seven vs. San Francisco as a result of a rare miscue by Joe Marciano’s special-teams unit. Brown, an original Texan, has had two field goals blocked this season, but he has generally been reliable throughout his Houston career, and he is exceptionally accurate from long distances. He has hit eight of his last nine field goals from 50 yards and beyond dating back to 2006, including a 50-yard attempt vs. San Francisco.

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the first issue now ready for mailing. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
