In coaching circles, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is revered for his toughness — he will go through his progresssions even as the pocket collapses, and he has a knack for escaping pressure just in time. And in his sixth NFL season, he might be passing better than ever. Through seven games, he was completing 70.4 percent of his passes, a career high for a passer who's usually accurate but never quite this pinpoint. Also, his 8.9 yards per completion average was tops in the AFC in that span. His receiving corps has played wonderfully, with Hines Ward having another strong season at age 33, TE Heath Miller likely en route to a career-best campaign and WRs Santonio Holmes and Mike Wallace consistent field-stretching threats. Roethlisberger is also getting help from his offensive line, which has jelled nicely and is getting good play from OLT Max Starks and ORT Willie Colon.
