Considering the competition, it was pretty tough for team insiders to measure the extent to which the Packers' defense improved while surrendering a combined three points in consecutive wins over the Lions and Browns. But one position that seems to have been significantly strengthened is safety, where the return of SS Atari Bigby in Week Six after missing a month with a sprained knee provided an immediate positive impact. When he's 100 percent healthy, as was the case in his breakout 2007 campaign, Bigby has proven to be a perfect complement to FS Nick Collins with his physical, hard-hitting playmaking ability. The big concern moving forward, though, will be Bigby's ability to remain healthy after already missing considerable time this season, as well as nine games last season mostly due to an injured ankle. For the time being, though, we hear safeties coach Darren Perry thinks the world of a starting combo he considers to be interchangeable.
