Through the first six games, the Bills' run defense was abysmal, ranking dead last in the league with nearly 182 yards allowed per game. Much of that can be attributed to poor tackling and an undersized group up front that was constantly being pushed around. But from what we hear, the team might have found an answer to its run-stopping woes. In Week Seven, Buffalo tinkered with its linebacking alignment, inserting Chris Draft at strong-side 'backer and shifting Keith Ellison to the weak side. Along with Paul Posluszny in the middle, this group seemed to work, as the Bills held Carolina's potent rushing attack to 116 yards on the ground. Coordinator Perry Fewell also dialed up more blitzes, giving the Panthers less room to operate. Since joining the club in mid-October after season-ending injuries to LBs Kawika Mitchell and Marcus Buggs, Draft has provided the Bills with a veteran spark and could be the piece they've been missing to control opposing rushers.
