With the season quickly approaching the halfway point, team insiders believe only a halfway positive assessment can be delivered on behalf of a pair of supposedly key additions to the defensive line — ex-Lions DE-DT Cory Redding and ex-Packers NT Colin Cole. While neither player has really stood out, the prevailing feeling is that Cole, who led all Seahawks D-linemen with 19 tackles entering Week Eight, has performed decently, while Redding, who was sixth among the team's D-linemen with only nine tackles (and zero sacks), has been a disappointment. "Cole has delivered in spots. At times he has been very stout, and you can see what he is capable of doing," said one team insider. "The team continues to like Redding's versatility, but they did expect more out of him. The rationale they used for moving Lawrence Jackson ahead of him at left end was that they needed him to play more tackle against all the passing teams they've faced. But his numbers do need to improve."
