Youth is being served on the corners for the Colts, who have continued to get consistently solid play from rookies Jacob Lacey and Jerraud Powers. With normal starters Kelvin Hayden and Marlin Jackson battling injuries the first half of the season, the team hasn't missed a beat because of the stellar play of the two new kids on the block. Lacey, an undrafted rookie who was a high school teammate of S Melvin Bullitt, has shown a real playmaking flair in the nickel role. "The first time I saw him in camp, I knew he was special," one team insider said. "He just started making plays right away. It was the same thing I immediately saw in (starting FS) Antoine Bethea when he stepped in for Mike Doss." As for Powers, a third-round pick out of Auburn, he could make it difficult for Jackson to get back into the starting lineup at right corner. "He's a very heady kid, wise beyond his years," the insider said.
