There was plenty to like about the play of the Bengals' offense entering the Week Eight bye: QB Carson Palmer's precise passing, the offensive line's soundness and strength, the physical running of Cedric Benson. Also, WR Laveranues Coles is playing perhaps better than he has at any point this season. Coles caught TD passes in the Bengals' last two games before the bye and now has three in his 16 catches on the season. Coles, who has primarily been a factor on short and intermediate routes, hauled in a season-long 29-yard catch vs. Chicago. Though he isn't quite as fast as he was earlier in his career, Coles can still test defenses, and his play vs. the Bears was eye-catching, the way we hear it. If Coles consistently plays back to the form that made him such a threat with the Jets and Redskins earlier this decade, the Bengals' deep WR corps will be that much more dangerous.
