The regular season is in full swing, so the Fantasy Doctor will be making house calls regularly, answering readers' fantasy questions Wednesday through Saturday each week. Send your questions to the Doc at fantasydoctor@pfwmedia.com.
I have been offered a trade, and I REALLY need the Fantasy Doctor's touch on this one.
My current RBs (start two) are Chris Johnson, Willie Parker, Correll Buckhalter, Cadillac Williams and Donald Brown. My current WRs (start three) are Larry Fitzgerald, Roddy White, Lance Moore, Eddie Royal and Lee Evans.
I have been offered Matt Forté and Sidney Rice for Fitzgerald and Williams.
Accept? Decline? Accept only if he will take White instead of Fitz?
HELP!!!!
— Gregory
Sounds like you're pretty worked up about this deal, Gregory. After looking at your roster, I think I have an answer for you: Pull the trigger.
Besides Johnson, you don't have any dependable weekly options at RB, so getting a guy with as much upside as Forté makes a lot of sense. I know he has struggled thus far and hasn't lived up to his high draft status, but I'm not ready to give up on him yet. The Bears are going to get their running game going at some point, and this guy is too talented to stay stuck in a rut all season long. Plus, Williams is just an injury waiting to happen, so if you can get anything for him in a trade, that's a plus.
At WR, it'd obviously hurt to lose Fitzgerald, but you'd be getting a guy in Rice who has played very well recently and appears to be the favorite target of Brett Favre. And with a couple other decent receivers on your roster, you can afford to take this downgrade. Of course, if you can get the other party to accept White over Fitz, that'd be great, but I'd do this deal either way if I were you.
Doc, Lance Moore has been battling a hamstring injury for most of the year. Against the Giants last week he looked to be healthy again, and he will probably line up as the slot receiver. Last year Moore was the top Saints receiver with Marques Colston hurt a lot. That being said, how do you like him this week against a Miami defense that seems to have poor cover corners and plays a 3-4?
— Gregg, North Carolina
Well, Gregg, you're basically right on with your points. Moore does appear healthy now and should be the team's primary slot receiver going forward. Not only do I like him this week, but I also think he'll be a solid player the rest of the way.
The Dolphins have been stout against the run this season, but opponents have been able to throw on them. In fact, they are allowing 7.3 yards per pass play, one of the highest amounts in the league. That's the way Drew Brees and Co. figure to attack them Sunday, as the aerial attack is the Saints' bread and butter. A healthy Moore contributed six catches for 78 yards and a TD last week, and I see him being fairly involved yet again at Miami. In leagues that start three WRs, he's worth using.
I also like Moore's potential for the remainder of the season. He proved he can be a big-time fantasy player in 2008 when he caught 10 TD passes, and he plays alongside a wideout in Colston that has suffered his share of injuries. If Colston were to go down again, Moore would have lots of value as Brees' No. 1 target. He's definitely worth owning in most leagues and can be started in the right matchup.
