Veteran RCB Cortland Finnegan (hamstring) and safety/nickel back Vincent Fuller (arm) are expected back after the bye, perhaps as early as Week Eight vs. Jacksonville, which could help stabilize a defensive backfield that has offered little resistance of late. Finnegan is one of the NFL's better cover corners, and Fuller is an integral part of the club's sub packages. LCB Nick Harper (arm) won't be back in time for the Jacksonville game but is expected to return in November. The return of the injured veteran defensive backs could be the extent of the Titans’ lineup changes if head coach Jeff Fisher does not pull Kerry Collins in favor of Vince Young. This past week, Fisher called it “a competitive issue” that he was not going to discuss leading up to the bye. In an interview with The (Nashville) Tennessean, owner Bud Adams said he would like to see Young play more, but he noted that the decision was the head coach’s.

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the first issue now ready for mailing. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
