Lions QB Matthew Stafford has been surprised by the talk that his season is in jeopardy, saying he has not heard from anyone with the team that he needs surgery on his injured right knee, as has been rumored. Stafford has missed the past two games and appeared to suffer a bit of a setback leading up to Week Six's loss to the Packers. But reports of Stafford visiting noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews have proven to be false, and head coach Jim Schwartz — taking a measured approach to injuries, as he has since taking over the job — said the team will monitor its rookie QB's progress during the team's bye week and go from there. "We'll get him back on the practice field as soon as we can," Schwartz said. "I don't know if that'll be this week. I don't know if that'll be next week. I don't know if it will be the week after. But as soon as he's ready and he's able to go out there, we'll get him back on the practice field."
