The Texans' run defense, which was awful to begin this season, has gotten much better of late. This can be chalked up to a number of factors, but simply making fewer mistakes has gone a long way for Houston, which paid dearly for its errors in the first three weeks of the season. Also, the addition of SS Bernard Pollard has produced immediate dividends, as he has stabilized what was the shakiest position on defense. Finally, the club has really taken to first-year defensive coordinator Frank Bush's scheme. From the time he got the job, Bush vowed to oversee a more attacking defense, and the Texans have lived up to that billing. Note that Houston shut down Cincinnati's running game in Week Six despite having only three defensive tackles because Shaun Cody missed the game with the flu. The Texans have shown they will go small on defense if it means being more active up front.
