The Chiefs signed free-agent DT Kenny Smith to the 53-man roster on Wednesday.

Smith, a 6-4, 303-pounder, was in training camp with the Patriots in 2007 and ’08. He entered the NFL as a third-round pick of the Saints in 2001, playing in 30 games with 10 starts for New Orleans over a four-year span.
