After he started a career low nine games last season because of elbow and groin injuries, some teams might have suspected 31-year-old Champ Bailey was beginning to break down. The hypothesis has been tested, but offenses aren't getting positive results. Quarterbacks have targeted Bailey more frequently in 2009 than in past seasons, but sources say the eight-time Pro Bowler has shown that he's still an elite corner, albeit one that is no longer in his prime. Team observers say Bailey is surprised more throws are coming his way, although he seems to be enjoying the opportunities. The Broncos have three new veteran starters in the secondary playing around Bailey, and they have been impressed with his ability to play so well despite utilizing terrible technique. Most players wouldn't be able to get away with it, but it's clear that he still has enough natural talent to overcome his tendency to position himself poorly in coverage.
