Contrary to earlier reports, Seahawks MLB Lofa Tatupu may not miss the remainder of the season.
Tests done Monday on the three-time Pro Bowler indicated that he had suffered a partial tear of his left pectoral muscle, rather the complete tear that doctors had initially indicated.
"After further review and further imaging, we're not certain yet Lofa is done," Seahawks head coach Jim Mora said Monday, in the wake of Seattle's 27-3 defeat at the hands of Arizona on Sunday. "They did an MRI test, and it doesn't look like the muscle and tendons are completely detached from the bone. So (the declaration that Tatupu would miss the rest of the season) might have been a little premature. ... We'll keep our fingers crossed there."
Team doctors will compare an MRI of Tatupu's healthy right pectoral muscle to his injured left one to determine how much damage he suffered. If they determine that the damage isn't too serious, Tatupu could return to action after a few weeks of rehabilitation.
