Reports are that the Jets will be without Pro Bowl NT Kris Jenkins for the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee. Jenkins suffered the injury in the second quarter of Sunday's overtime loss to the Bills.
The Jets held a 13-3 lead when Jenkins was sidelined with a little more than five minutes left before halftime. Without the star run stuffer in the second half, the Jets allowed 93 rushing yards to the Bills and eventually relinquished the lead for good late in the extra session.
Losing Jenkins is a huge blow to Rex Ryan's 3-4 defense, which relies on a powerful nose tackle to occupy blockers and stuff the middle of the field. The Jets have no other player on the roster to perform those duties as well as Jenkins did.
Fifth-year veteran Sione Pouha moved over to the NT spot after Jenkins was injured Sunday and likely will be the starter there in Week Seven against the Raiders. He had been starting at an end position.
