The Patriots signed veteran LB Junior Seau Wednesday. Contract terms were not disclosed. To free up a roster spot for Seau, the Patriots released DL Terdell Sands.

Seau, 40, is a 12-time Pro Bowler, entering his 20th NFL season and his fourth with the Patriots. He has played in 31 games with 16 starts for New England from 2006-08.

Joining the team in the middle of a season is nothing new to Seau. He was signed by New England on Dec. 5, 2008 after spending the first three quarters of the season out of football.

Sands had been signed by the Patriots on Sept. 28. He spent the previous six seasons (2003-08) with the Raiders.

I just vomited in my mouth. Why in all that is holy and just did Joey Galloway not be the one to get released? Huh? anyone..... Asinine, illogical move. Sands was at least a capable, big body to spell Vince, Ty and Jarvis. I am flummoxed thoroughly..
