The Chargers signed veteran DT Ian Scott on Wednesday and cut S Clinton Hart to make room for Scott on the 53-man roster.
Scott, a seventh-year veteran, appeared in four games with San Diego in 2008. He spent the entire 2009 offseason with the club before being released at the conclusion of training camp. His addition gives the team much-needed depth on the defensive line.
Hart, also in his seventh year, joined the Chargers in ’04 and was the starting strong safety since ’07. Steve Gregory is slated to take over Hart's starting job, with sixth-round rookie Kevin Ellison backing him up.
