The only consistent thing about the Cardinals' defense so far this season has been its inconsistency. One defender, however, who has definitely exceeded expectations is 2008 second-round DE Calais Campbell, who team insiders believe has done a solid job replacing the departed Antonio Smith in the starting lineup. Campbell was asked by PFW in a phone interview four days before the arrival of Smith and the Texans in Arizona for their Week Five game against the Cardinals if he was satisfied with his play in the season's early stages. "Well, I love to play, and I'm satisfied that I've been on the field a lot more after being on the sideline so much last season," Campbell said. "But I haven't been tackling as well as I can or been as explosive as I need to be." Of course, having a sounding board like 13th-year veteran Bryan Robinson certainly doesn't hurt. "Without a doubt," Campbell said of Robinson. "When I have any questions, he's the first guy I go to."

PFW has launched its brand-new NFL Draft Newsletter series, with the first issue now ready for mailing. Produced by PFW's player personnel department under the direction of Nolan Nawrocki, the series consists of four information-packed issues.
