With a quarter of their 2009 season in the books, which has been a bigger area of improvement for the Bears: a defensive line that is doing a much better job applying pressure under the direction of Rod Marinelli, or a WR corps featuring Devin Hester, Earl Bennett and rookie Johnny Knox that has made a quantum leap in surprisingly short order? "I would have to give the edge to the receivers, even though they didn't do much (in Week Four) against Detroit," said one daily team observer. "I really thought Hester would be pretty good, but I didn't expect Bennett to be so solid, and Knox just came out of nowhere." With an extra week to rest during the team's bye, we hear the shoulder Hester injured early in the second quarter against Detroit is expected to be fully healed in time for the Bears' Sunday-night game in Atlanta on Oct. 18. As for Bennett, we've been told that the Bears have admitted it was a mistake to expect him to master all three WR positions as a rookie.
