The Ravens placed LB Brendon Ayanbadejo on injured reserve Tuesday and re-signed LB Prescott Burgess from New England's practice squad to take Ayanbadejo's place on the 53-man roster.
Ayanbadejo, a special-teams ace and a key part of the Ravens' "sub" packages on defense, is believed to have suffered a torn quadriceps muscle in the Ravens' Week Four loss at New England. Ayanbadejo, 33, notched 22 tackles on defense this season. Also, he made the Pro Bowl as a special-teams contributor the last three seasons.
The Ravens traded had Burgess to the Patriots for a conditional draft pick on Sept. 22, but New England released him six days later and signed him to its practice squad. The 25-year-old linebacker played two games for Baltimore but never got into a game with the Pats.
