If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's the Jaguars' attitude regarding their running game workload. Even though the Jags intended for squatty Maurice Jones-Drew to handle the featured role, few expected him to be quite this central to their ground attack. Consider that of the team's 62 carries by backs, all but five have been handled by Jones-Drew. Word we're getting out of Jacksonville is that because his workload still sits at a manageable level around 20 carries per game, the team doesn't feel the need to feed rookie Rashad Jennings or FBs Greg Jones and Montell Owens more carries. However, not every aspect of the running game remains static. The Jags were successful executing some makeshift option runs and end-arounds with rookie WR Mike Thomas against the Texans, and such gadget plays should continue because of the element of surprise it provides to an otherwise vanilla scheme.
