QB JaMarcus Russell is getting worse in his second season as a full-time starter, but he's not in danger of being replaced. Despite compiling a completion percentage of 41.3 through Week Three, head coach Tom Cable said he hasn't even considered pulling the plug on Russell, and with backups like Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye, there is no one threatening to move ahead of Russell on the depth chart. There was some talk of the Raiders reexamining Jeff Garcia when he became a free agent again after getting cut by the Eagles on Sept. 29, but it seems unlikely that Garcia would choose to join the team for a second time. He apparently asked to be released before Oakland trimmed its roster to 53 men on Sept. 5 after it became clear to him that Cable would be sticking with Russell as the starter no matter what for the foreseeable future. The team's stance has not changed.
