With the Cardinals' uneven 1-2 start producing more than a few possibilities to pick from, our sources in the desert believe poor pass protection — particularly from the tackle positions — just might be the No. 1 concern being discussed behind closed doors during the team's bye week. "It's been a common thread," said one team insider. "Against the Colts, Dwight Freeney dominated (starting OLT Mike) Gandy. And in the Week One loss to the Niners, (starting ORT) Levi Brown really struggled with Parys Haralson." With games coming up against a steady stream of top defensive ends — Houston's Mario Williams in Week Five, Seattle's Patrick Kerney in Week Six and the Giants' deep DE rotation in Week Seven — better play at the tackles is considered imperative. "In their defense, they are left in one-on-one situations a lot," the insider said of Gandy and Brown. "But it's obvious (QB Kurt) Warner needs more time. He can't keep getting beaten up the way he has up to now."
