The NFL and NFLPA met on Tuesday in New York, and both sides came away pleased with the discussions, NFL.com reported Wednesday.

“Today’s meeting was good," NFLPA spokesman George Atallah said, according to NFL.com. "We discussed some non-core CBA issues. Another meeting is scheduled in the coming weeks at which time we will respond to the league’s non-economic proposals."

Per NFL.com, NFL senior vice president of public relations Greg Aiello called the meeting "positive."

The current Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NFL and NFLPA expires in 2011, but the '09 league year is the last currently under a salary cap, meaning the negotiations to come in the months ahead could be contentious, particularly in light of current economic conditions.
