The last preseason games were less than a month ago. Fall just started. Each team still has 14 games left to play.

But it's not too early to worry if you are 0-2. History tells us as much.

Since 1990, only 22 of the 160 teams that have started 0-2 have gone on to make the playoffs. However, good teams can overcome early stumbles. The Dolphins, Vikings and Chargers all went on to win their divisions after dropping two straight to begin the '08 season, and the Giants overcame horrible-looking losses to the Cowboys and Packers to start the '07 season to grab a wild-card spot and win Super Bowl XLII.

With this in mind, here are the nine 0-2 teams, ranked in order of most likely to elbow their way back into the playoff picture to the least likely:

1. Tennessee. The Titans play three of their next four games on the road and have had problems stopping the pass early this season, but they are far and away the most talented of the winless clubs and are the most likely to bounce back quickly.

2. Carolina. The Panthers played Atlanta tough in Week Two, and any further improvement will put them in a position to challenge the Cowboys on Monday night. The Week Four bye comes at a perfect time for John Fox's team, but the next three games after the break (vs. Washington, at Tampa Bay, vs. Buffalo) are must-wins.

3. Miami.  The Dolphins have to shake off losses to the Falcons and Colts before facing the Chargers in San Diego on Sunday, but the schedule is kinder in October: three home games and a bye.

4. Jacksonville. The Colts are the AFC South's best team at the moment — and Jacksonville almost beat them in the opener. The Jaguars can't be written off just yet, but improvement is needed, and quickly.

5. Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers' offense can keep them in games, but their defense is porous, and they have to cut down on mistakes and mental errors to even get to .500, much less think about the postseason.

6. Cleveland. The Browns have one offensive touchdown in their last eight games dating back to last season. Also, their second-half play in both losses has been alarmingly bad.

7. St. Louis. Give the Rams credit: They gave the Redskins all they could handle in Week Two. But Steve Spagnuolo's club still has a long way to go to be consistently competitive.

8. Kansas City. Hard to be too excited about the Chiefs after their defense got pushed around in Week One and their offense came up short in Week Two.

9. Detroit. The Lions desperately need turnover-prone QB Matthew Stafford to take a page from fellow rookie passer Matt Sanchez.

about detroit, COME ON!! Take a page from the Jet's Sanchez? NYJ's have built their line with first round draft picks for 3 years, maybe four? I couldn't expect Stafford to do any better than he has. The pic was dumb to begin with, a solid line is key to any good q-back play. Seems like a waste of $ to have Stafford there.
